Cardiac hypertrophy
A change in the proportions between muscle fiber mass, vascularity, and the amount of extracellular matrix. Characteristic features include hypertrophy of cardiac muscle fibers and a significant increase in the amount of type I collagen. One of the most common causes of left ventricular wall hypertrophy is hypertension.
