The Department was originally established as the Department of Psychiatry and the Psychiatry Clinic at the Faculty of Medicine on June 1, 2013, by Resolution No. 224 of the Senate of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, dated May 17, 2013.
Until December 31, 2020, the Department was headed by Professor Krystyna de Walden-Gałuszko, MD, PhD.
As of January 1, 2021, in accordance with Ordinance No. 118/2020 of the Rector, the Department’s name was changed to the Department of Mental and Psychosomatic Diseases. On the same date, the position of Head of Department was taken over by Associate Professor Magdalena Krajewska-Włodarczyk, MD, PhD.
On March 1, 2021, based on Ordinance No. 6/2021 of the Rector, the Rheumatology Clinic was established within the Department’s structure.
