Medical License in Poland

Please note that once you have graduated, you are no longer subject to the University. All queries regarding obtaining a license should be addressed to the Supreme Medical Council (https://nil.org.pl/contact/office), or the Department in Olsztyn (https://wmil.olsztyn.pl/) 

In order to practice as a doctor in Poland, you must: 

  1. Hold a Medical Diploma with the title of Medical Doctor (in Polish: LEKARZ) 

  1. Pass the Final Medical Examination (LEK - Lekarski Egzamin Końcowy), this exam can be taken in Polish or in English.

  1. Complete the post-graduate internship in Polish, which last 13-months and is organized by the Warmia and Mazury Medical Chamber in Olsztyn (https://wmil.olsztyn.pl/dla-lekarzy/staz-podyplomowy/informacje-o-stazu/). 

OR 

Complete the post-graduate internship in English, which last 6-months and is organized by the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (https://wl.uwm.edu.pl/en/graduates-alumni/post-graduate-internship-0/post-graduate-internship-english) 

All graduates from Polish medical university, who completed the studies in English and want to practice in Poland as a medical doctor, have to pass the exam of Polish language proficiency conducted by the Supreme Medical Council in Warsaw: https://nil.org.pl/uploaded_files/art_1579244745_egzaminy-z-jezyka-polskiego-dla-lekarzy-i-lekarzy-dentystow-informacje.pdf
