Temat wykładu: "The experimental models of cancer invasion"

Our research group has accumulated experience in implementation of chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model in experimental studies during the last ten years, and therefore we can share this experience with the colleagues. At the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, the CAM model was implemented in various experimental studies (formation of experimental tumors from different cell cultures, patient’s tumor pieces transplanted on the CAM) and this model was found to be suitable for investigating the effects of medicines on neoangiogenesis, tumor invasiveness, and metastasizing. A CAM model is more successful in predicting patients-derived xenografted tumor treatment prognosis as compared with rodent immunodeficient models. The chicken chorioallantoic membrane model is an alternative model for studying cancer treatment approaches for tumor growth, invasion, angiogenesis, and is one which helps elucidate target medicines for human cancer treatment.
