New Clinical Hospital One Step Closer to Reality

A significant stride was made on Monday, July 7, 2025, towards establishing a new, state-of-the-art clinical hospital in Olsztyn with the signing of a letter of intent. The University of Warmia and Mazury (UWM) in Olsztyn is spearheading this ambitious project, which will elevate healthcare standards for the region's residents and provide unparalleled educational opportunities for medical students.

The ceremonial signing took place at Olsztyn Castle, a historically significant location associated with Nicolaus Copernicus, the patron of UWM's Collegium Medicum. The document signifying readiness to collaborate on the new hospital was signed by the Marshal of the Voivodeship, the President of Olsztyn, and the Rector of UWM. The initiative has also garnered strong support from the Warmian-Masurian Voivode.

The letter of intent commits the signatories to collaborating to secure financial resources for the design phase and to cover construction and equipment costs. It also ensures continuity of healthcare services during the consolidation process.

Following the signing, the next crucial step will be forming a working group. This team will formulate the terms of cooperation and a detailed work schedule for this transformative project.
