MEDICINE- QS WUR RANKING DEBUT
The latest QS World University Ranking, published in March, brought excellent news for the School of Medicine, which was recorded in the "QS WUR Ranking by Subject" Medicine for the first time, ranking between 701 and 850. It is worth noting that out of all the medical universities in Poland, only seven are listed in this prestigious ranking.
This is a significant accolade that demonstrates our place in the scientific world and the progress we have made. It is important to remember that the School of Medicine is one of the youngest faculties at our University. In addition, medical sciences are a discipline in which it is not easy to achieve scientific success. The debut in this ranking shows that the direction we have taken is the right one and that we are developing, — comments Prof. Marcin Mycko, MD, PhD the Head of the Medical Sciences Discipline at the School of Medicine.
Science can be measured in a variety of ways and, unfortunately, they are not always completely objective. Such rankings take into account the core of science, because is there anything more important for a researcher than for his or her publications to be perceived by other scientists as valuable and interesting? If we are able to do well in such a ranking, it is definitely something to be proud of, — says Prof. Mycko, adding that research at the School of Medicine covers a wide range of topics. - We conduct research in many areas, trying to refer to the latest advances in medicine. I am not able to single out one leading theme, but this is probably a good thing. In addition, we try to base our research on reliable and proven data, based on documented medical knowledge, and this is what academic medicine should be. You can see that Olsztyn is becoming a centre that can boast valuable research in the discipline of medical sciences and high-level education, — adds Prof. Marcin Mycko.
