MedEd PolyTrauma VR Project- Official Meeting in France

Team meeting

Representatives from three European universities and the Gluk Media gathered in France for the official transnational meeting of the MedEd PolyTrauma VR: Increasing quality of emergency medicine education through polytrauma virtual reality training project. The aim of this meeting is to develop five realistic polytrauma scenarios using Virtual Reality (VR) technology to revolutionise emergency medicine training.

The two-day meeting in France brought together delegates from Vilnius University (LT), Universite De Franche-Comte (FR), University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (PL) and Gluk Media (LT). This face-to-face interaction marks a significant step forward after initial online discussions aimed at establishing the basic framework of the project.

During the productive sessions in France, the partners built on the carefully developed content of five realistic polytrauma scenarios based on real medical practices. Through collaborative content creation efforts by Vilnius University (LT), Universite De Franche-Comte (FR), University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (PL) and technical advice from Gluk Media (LT), this comprehensive foundation for the creation of the future VR educational tool was established.

A key focus of the meeting in France was to further refinine and integrate this developed content into the MedEd PolyTrauma VR framework. Each of the participating universities – Vilnius University, Universite De Franche-Comte, and University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn – will contribute their unique expertise by further detailing these scenarios, complete with specific learning objectives.

The collaborative approach will ensure that the polytrauma situations are evaluated through different lenses, reflecting each institution's medical protocols, real clinical practices, and educational perspectives. This multi-faceted evaluation will be crucial in creating comprehensive and universally applicable training content for the upcoming VR platform of the MedEd PolyTrauma VR project.

The project partners are enthusiastic about the progress made during this important meeting and look forward to continued collaboration as they work towards the development and implementation of these innovative VR-based polytrauma training scenarios within the MedEd PolyTrauma VR framework.

The project is funded by the European Union (Erasmus+ Programme, action type KA220-HED - Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education, Project No 2024-1-LT01-KA220-HED-000248267).
