Expert and Professional advisor: prof. dr hab. n. med. Ewa Mayzner-Zawadzka, Head of the Clinical Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Medical Division, UWM Olsztyn

The main goal of the research is a cultural conformity, psychometrical evaluation and validation of extraverbal pain rating scales: BPS Scale (Behavioral Pain Scale) and NVPS Scale (Nonverbal Pain Scale). A rational effect of this research is supposed to be an elaboration of polish version of the scale enabling an objective and standarised pain evaluation in patients receiving continuous mechanical ventilation with indications to undergo sedation.

This project has received bioethical committee approval by the Medical Faculty at Warmian-Masurian University in Olsztyn – Act Nr. 13/2011, the 9th of june 2011. It has also a financial support from the Warmian- Masurian District Chamber of Nurses and Midwifes located in Olsztyn, with a legal basis on a contract signed up the 27th of june 2012
